PAVITROTSAVAMS COMMENCE IN TIRUCHANOOR

Tiruchanur, 6 September 2014: The annual three-day Pavitrotsavams started on a colourful note in the famous temple of Goddess Padmavathi Devi in Tiruchanoor on Saturday.

The religious activity for the day commenced with the awakening of the presiding deity of Goddess Sri Padmavathi Ammavaru with Suprabhatam followed by Sahasranamarchana. Later the processional deities were taken to Yagashala where Dwaratorana Dwajakumbha Avahanam, Chakradimandala pooja, Chatusthanarchana, Agnipratishtha and Pavitrapratishtha have been performed as per agamas by the temple priests.

In the afternoon between 2pm to 3.30pm, Snapana Tirumanjanam has been performed to the Goddess with turmeric paste, sandal paste, milk, curd, honey. Later the Goddess was decked up in dazzling jewels and silk vastrams.
TTD has cancelled Kalyanotsavam, Pushpanjali seva following this religious fete. The grihasta pilgrims took part in this arjitha seva by paying Rs.750 per person for three days.

Special Grade Deputy EO Smt Chenchu Lakshmi, AEO Smt Nagarathna, Kankana Bhattar Sri Manikantha Swamy and others were also present.
