PAVITROTSAVAMS IN TIRUMALA FROM JULY 28 TO JULTY 31
TIRUMALA, JULY 24: Among the series of festivals which are being performed every year in Tirumala, Pavitrotsavam or Shravana Pavitrotsavam is all set to take place in the hill town of Tirumala from July 29 to July 31 with Ankurarpanam on July 28.
The significant feature of this purification festival is that the priests symbolically seek the pardon of the Lord for their possible acts of all omissions and commissions committed either knowingly or unknowingly during the performance of daily rituals to the presiding deity inside the temple.
On the first day on Sunday ‘Homam’ will be performed at the yagasala situated inside the temple complex followed by ‘Snapana Thirumanjanam’ to the processional deities. Later, the temple priests ceremoniously conduct the ‘Pavitra Pratishta’. On the second day, the priests perform “Pavithra Samarpana” while on the last day there will be “Purnahuti”.
In connection with the festival, there will be no Vasanthotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankara seva on July 28. The temple management has dispensed of with the performance of all the daytime rituals like – Kalyanotsavams, Brahmotsavams, Unjal seva and Sahasra deepalankara during all the three days festival period.
