ALMOST AFTER A YEAR TIRUMALA WITNESSES PILGRIMS INFLUX
Tirumala, 19 Feb. 21: All roads lead to the four Mada streets in Tirumala on Friday with pilgrims swarming the galleries in huge numbers to witness the Saptha Vahana Sevas of Srivaru on the auspicious day of Surya Jayanthi.
This year, the annual festival of Radha Sapthami assumed importance as this is the first time almost after eleven months, the pilgrims were allowed to witness the Vahana Sevas of Lord, after the Covid Pandemic marred all the festivities and forced the devotees to keep away from participation as they were performed in Ekantam.
The surge of devotees was clearly seen since the early hours of Friday starting from Suryaprabha Vahanam and continued till the Saptha Vahana Seva concluded with Chandraprabha Vahanam. Over a lakh devotees witnessed the majesty of the Lord in various Alankarams on different vahanams.
Speaking to the media over the arrangements, TTD Chairman Sri YV Subba Reddy said, as this mega religious event is taking place after a long gap of almost a year post-Covid pandemic last year, anticipating a huge pilgrim rush, TTD made elaborate arrangements of Annaprasadam, water, security in each gallery all along the four Mada streets. In spite of the huge turnout of devotees, Annaprasadam and Jalaprasadam arrangements, buttermilk, milk, beverages etc. were made and distributed to pilgrims in each gallery with the help of Srivari Sevakulu.
TTD EO Dr KS Jawahar Reddy said, over one lakh pilgrims have converged in galleries to witness the Vahana Sevas on the day of Surya Jayanthi. On the other hand darshans are also going on in a smooth manner, he added.
Additional EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy with other senior officers of TTD, CVSO Sri Gopinath Jatti with Security and Vigilance sleuths, Tirupati Urban SP Sri Venkata Appala Naidu with his team of Police officials and cops deputed for the Radha Sapthami duty were on rounds from dawn to dusk and personally monitored all the amenities being provided to pilgrims in galleries.
