“SESHACHALA FORESTS RECREATED” DURING SPRING FESTIVAL

Tirumala, 19 April 2016: The aesthetic beauty of the lush green Seshachala forests recreated by the Garden department of TTD for the annual vasanthotsavams in the Vasantha Mandapam took the pilgrim devotees to heavenly places.

VASANTHA VANAM CAPTIVATES PILGRIMS: The concept of “Vasantha Vanam” spring forests recreated by the garden department under the supervision of Deputy Director of Garden Sri Srinivasulu immensely attracted the pilgrims. The chirps of the tiny birds, sounds of the wild beasts including Lion, Tiger, Elephant etc, the lovely sounds of water falls and with the monkeys hanging from the tree branches, snakes finely dancing to the vedic hymns with their hoods wide open mesmerized the pilgrims.

ANNUAL SPRING FESTIVAL: Meanwhile the annual Vasanthotsavams of Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy, in Tirumala Temple is usually performed for three days every year starting from Trayodasi and concluding on Pournami in the auspicious month of Chaitra (March/April Month).

According to the Tirumala Temple Legend, the Vasanthotsavam Festival commenced during the period of King Achyutaraya in 1460′s.

On Tuesday the processional deities of Sri Malayappa Swamy and His consorts were taken round in procession and brought to Vasanta Mandapam. In the afternoon between 2pm and 4pm Snapana Thirumanjanam (Holy Bath) was performed to the deities amidst vedic hymns and later they were brought back to temple.

In view of srivari annual vasanthotsavam, TTD has cancelled Kalyanotsavam, Dolotsavam(Ujal Seva), Arjitha Brahmotsavam, Vasanthotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankarana Seva.

GOLDEN CHARIOT PROCESSION:

Meanwhile on the second day on Wednesday, April 20, there will be procession of Golden Chariot from 8am to 9am followed by Snapanam to deities in the afternoon.
