“SOWBHAGYAM” OFF TO A COLOURFUL START
TIRUCHANOOR, NOVEMBER 15:“Sowbhagyam”-the innovative programme mulled by TTD to invite women devotees for the annual brahmotsavams of Goddess Sri Padmavathi Devi at Tiruchanoor scheduled for November 19 to 27, off to a colourful start in the temple town on Saturday.
The programme will last for six days including the invitation being extended to women devotees residing in Tirupati, Tiruchanoor and surrounding areas in a traditional way by offering them turmeric, vermilion, sacred yellow threads, kankanams and bangles.
Speaking on this occasion, the Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad(HDPP) Special Officer Sri B Raghunath said, these materials have been sent to around 145 temples surrounding the temple town of Tiruchanoor and Tirupati apart from these two pilgrim centres. “Sumangali Puja” will also be conducted by women devotees in the temples of their respective localities seeking the blessings of Goddess Padmavathi Devi for their spouses’ longevity and a blissful marriage life and later the holy materials will be distributed to the married women in every household from 9am to 7pm till November 20”, he added.
Meanwhile the procession of these holy items began in colourful and ceremonious way where all women officers and staff of TTD took part. The procession began from Pasupumandapam and later reached Tiruchanoor temple. Smt. Amaravathi Bhaskar(Wife of Tirupati JEO Sri Pola Bhaskar), Temple Sp Gr Dy EO Smt Chenchu Lakshmi, AEO Smt Nagarathna and others took part in this ceremonious fete and distributed the materials to women folk.
