SPECIAL SAHASRA KALASABHISHEKAM ON JUNE 11

NO VIP BREAK DARSHAN EXCEPT TO PROTOCOL VIPs-TIRUMALA JEO

Tirumala, 7 June 2016: To commemorate the historical moment and ceremonious occasion where in Pallava queen Samavai donated the silver Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy idol to Tirumala way back in 614 AD, TTD will observe special Sahasra Kalasabhishekam on Saturday in Tirumala shrine.

This special ritual will take place at Bangaru Vakili between 6am and 8am on June 11. while the arjitha sevas like Kalyanotsavam, Unjalseva, arjitha brahmotsavam, vasanthotsavam and sahasradeepalankara seva will take place as usual on that day.


Meanwhile TTD has cancelled VIP break darshan on that day in view of the anticipated week end pilgrim rush. Speaking to media persons, on Tuesday, Tirumala JEO Sri K S Sreenivasa Raju said, except protocol VIPs, the break darshan is cancelled on that day following the religious event as well in view of pilgrim rush. “Only constitutional VIPs will be provided VIP break darshan on that day”, he added.

HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE: Meanwhile in the month of Jyestha, in the year 614 A.D., the Pallava queen Samavai Perindevi donated 18 inches tall silver idol of Sri Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy to Tirumala Shrine. The inscription about this donation can be seen on the wall below Vimana Venkateswara Shrine in the first Prakaram. This silver idol is part of the Pancha beras and this is known as ‘kautuka murthy’ in Agamic jargon.

To commemorate this auspicious day of consecration of the silver idol, Special Sahasra Kalasabhishekam is performed to Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy idol in the morning after I bell. This is performed as Ekantham and this is not an Arjitha Seva like the wednesday weekly Sahasra Kalasabhishekam. TTD has been observing this fete from the past one decade.
