SPECIAL STORY FOR BTU OF PAT: PANCHAMI THEERTHAM BATH
Tirupati, 3 December 2016: The seventh day of Brahmotsavam of Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple is the holiest of event- Panchami Theertham, the moment of incarnation of Goddess Padmavathi from the Padma Pushkarini.
The TTD has made all arrangements for commencement of the devotional event of Panchami theertham chakrasnanam at Panchami theertham mandapam from December 4 to December 6.
Sri Archakam Vakulabharanam Srinivasam Manikanta Bhattar, the chief priest of PAT conducting the Brahmotsavam says that the legend of the event indicated the significance of Panchami theertham ritual when the Goddess Padmavathi who had walked out of Kailas in a huff returned to abode of Lord Venkateswara after his several special prayers and rituals.
Legends say that pleased with his act of worship with golden flowers brought from Heaven (abode of Indira) and penance for 12 years Padmavathi returned to him in the present form of grand avatar. Puranic scripts indicate that Lord Srinivasa searched for her in 56 countries and also performed special rituals to please in nearly 108 pilgrim centres.
As part of the Panchami Theertham even celebrated as the birth day of Goddess, Churnabhisekham is performed at the Dwajarohanam mandapam after thirumanjanam with Churna pudi, oil millets.
Later special rituals were performed at the Panchami Mandapam to the utsava idol of Padmavathi Ammavaru and that of Sri Sudarshana Chakratalwar. On the same occasion the silk clothes and other honors including jewels and naivedyam presented by the Sri Venkateswara temple, Tirumala are also offered to the deity. The event is marked with hightone of vedic mantras and special prayers.
Highlight of the event is the special prayers and rituals at the Sri Rama stupam installed in 1970 by Srimannarayana Ramanuja Pedda Jiyar swami where he performed parayana, havana for 27 days and and launched the Ramakoti books.
