SRAVANAM SERVICES TO BE EXTENDED ACROSS THE STATE – TTD EO

Tiruapti, 24 Mar. 16: TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao said that the services of Sravanam project will be extended further with an aim to provide medical aid to more children who are suffering from hearing impairment by birth.

Addressing the tenth anniversary of sravanam project located in old maternity hospital in Tirupati on Thursday the EO said apart from dharmic and religious activities, TTD has also taken up social welfare activities including operating hospitals, educational institutions etc. for the benefit of the denizens free of cost and in some at affordable rates as its social responsibility.

“After seeing the overwhelming response to this project, We are now contemplating to open up Deafness Identifying Centres in all the district head quarters after negotiating with medical and health department of the state government and provide our assistance to the needy”, he maintained.

Today we have 201 children in Tirupati, 22 in Vizag centres undergoing treatment through Development of Hearing Voice and Natural Integration system. The interesting feature is that this year 31 children have successfully completed their course and would be joining the mainstream integrated schools in their native places. We are chalking out plans to develop the Vizag sub-centre also to further level”, he added.

Tirupati JEO Sri P Bhaskar said, in Guntur also we are planning to open up Sravanam sub-centre. We will be involving ICDS, health and medical departments, SHG groups to take up the publicity on this project in an extensive way as there is still a long way to go”, he felt.

TTD Board Member Sri G Bhanuprakash Reddy said, the Sravanam Project has added a feather in the cap of the TTD with its impeccable services.

CMO Dr N Vikas, DEO SRi Vijay Kumar, President of Sravanam Sri Murugaiah, Secretary Smt Vasanta, Dr Nageswara Rao and faculty, parents and children were also present. Later the EO and JEO distributed BT hearing kits, religious books to the children.
