SRINIVASA KALYANAM PERFORMED IN A COLOURFUL MANNER AT NAIMISARANYAM, SITAPUR DIST U.P

Feb 04:  The celestial wedding of the processional deities of Lord Malayappa Swamy with two consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi has been performed in a spectacular way in Balaji Mandir, Naimisaranyam in Sitapur Dist, Uttar Pradesh on Monday provided a colourful feast to the eyes of thousands of devotees who converged to witness the grandeur of the divine marriage.

 

With an aim to propagate and take the glory of Lord of Lords Sri Venkateswara across the globe, TTD has launched a noval programme Srinivasa Kalyanams. So far apart from major cities of India, the celestial wedding has been performed at Nepal and US outside country.

 

The wedding began with the priests commencing the religious fete with Sankalpam followed by the customary events of traditional Hindu wedding including Edurukolu, Pubantata and finally the much awaited Mangalyadhrana(Mangal Suthra)  Mahotsavam where in Lord Malayppa Swamy (Lord Balaji) tied the knots to his Two Consorts.

 

The entire fete provided a colourful feast to the eyes of the devotees who converged to witness the grand divine marriage. DyEO Sri Umapathy Reddy and others took part in this celestial fete.

 

IMPORTANCE OF NAIMISARANYAM

Naimisaranyam is among the eight swayam vyakhta kshetrams and among the 108 divyadesams of Sri Vaishnavas. The place is also known as Nimkhar or Nimsar and is on the banks of the river Gomati.

Naimisaranyam Temple is said to be one of the 8 swayam Vyaktha kshetrams. The other swayam Vyaktha kshetram are Sri Rangam, Srimushnam, Salagramam, Thotadri (Vaanamamalai), Tirupathi, Pushkaram and Badri. This Naimisaranya Temple is said to be regarded as ‘Tapovanam’.

There are 9 tapovams. They are Dandakaranyam, Saindhavaranyam, Jambhukaranyam, Pushkararanyam, Utpalaranyam, Badrikaranyam, Gurujangalaranyam, Aruputharanyam and Naimisaranayam. It is belived that the Goddesses is found in the form of forest. And this Naimisaranyam is regarded as a holy forest.the Lord is in the form of forest. The Lord is known as Devaraja perumal or Sri Hari and the thayar is called Sri Hari Lakshmi thayar. The Vyasa ghat temple is located on the banks of the river. There are two pushkarnis- the Gomathi river and Chakra theertham.
