SVV TAKES OFF ON A GRAND NOTE WITH VASANTHOTSAVAM

HYDERABADIS EXPERIENCE “CHILL-THRILL” ON BRIGHT SUNNY DAY

The week-long Sri Venkateswara Vaibhavotsavams off to a grand start on Sunday with the special ritual Vasanthotsavam which provided a soothing feel to the denizens who graced the NTR Stadium to witness the Seva.

UPASAMANA SEVA:

Usually Vasanthotsavam is performed in Tirumala on the auspicious days of Trayodasi, Chaturdasi and Pournami in the month of Chaitra (March/April) every year as annual Seva and every day as “Upasamana” arjitha Seva.

ORIGIN IN 1460s:

According to the temple Legend, the Vasanthotsavam Festival was started during the period of King Achyutaraya in 1460’s. This annual fete was believed to have introduced by the King to mark the arrival of Spring Season. Lord and his Consorts are given aromatic bath, which is believed to give a soothing relief to the deities from the scorching Sun.

THE AROMATIC BATH-SNAPANA TIRUMANJANAM:

Meanwhile this celestial fete took place in the replica temple of Lord in NTR Stadium on Sunday between 8:30am to 10:00am.

After Samprokshanam (sprinkling of holy water as a symbolic representation of purification) ritual, the priests performed Vasanthotsavam in a befitting manner with Milk, Coconut water, Honey, curd, Turmeric and Sandal Paste to the processional deities of Sri Malayappa Swamy and his consorts are brought to beautifully decorated Vasanta Mandapam. This aromatic bath is called “Snapana Thirumanjanam”. The entire premises was spell bound by the magic of the nice fragrance of aromatic ingredients during the ritual.

Tirupati JEO Sri P Bhaskar, TTD Trust Board Members Sri AV Ramana, Sri G Bhanuprakash Reddy and several thousands of devotees were also present.
