TEEPOTSAVAMS OFF TO A COLOURFUL START IN SRI PAT

Tiruchanur, 29 May 2015: The Annual teppotsavams in Sri Padmavathi Ammavari temple commenced with religious pomp and gaiety on Friday evening in the temple town of Tiruchanoor.

The five-day annual teppotsavams took off to a colourful start in a pleasant climate on Friday evening which witnessed drizzles accompanied by cool breeze giving a soothing feel to the devotees who admired the Float festival in Padma Sarovaram.

Meanwhile this festival is usually observed in the famous temple of Goddess Padmavathi in Tiruchanoor are from May 29-June 2 from Jyestha Suddha Ekadasi day till Pournami for five days every year.

Teppotsavams have no religious significance but are celebrated to exhibit the grandeur of “Goddess of Riches”. On the first day Lord Sri Krishnaswamy took a pleasure ride on finely decorated Teppa-the float in the Padma Sarovaram flanked by His two consorts Rukmini and Satyabhama on His either sides blessing the devotees.

The pilgrims enjoyed the celestial fete between 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Meanwhile the temple authorities have cancelled Kalyanotsavam, unjal Seva and Lakshmi Puja in connection with this festival.

JEO Sri P Bhaskar, CVSO Sri G Nagendra Kumar, temple Special Grade Deputy EO Smt Chenchu Lakshmi, SE III Sri Sudhakar Rao, AEO Smt Nagarathna and others were also present.
