“THE GLORY OF LORD VENKATESWARA IS INFINITE” “OUR FOCUS IS ON PRO-PILGRIM MEASURES”-TTD CHAIRMAN

Tirumala, 14 June, 15: TTD Chairman Dr Ch Krishnamurthy on Sunday asserted that the first and foremost priority is to ensure pilgrims hassle free darshan providing a comfortable stay.

Addressing media persons at Annaiamah Bhavan in Tirumala on Sunday the TTD Trust Board Chief said, the pilgrim rush on Saturday and Sunday is a live proof to show that the glory of Lord Venkateswara is universal. “On Saturday-June 13, with the team efforts of TTD officials and employees darshan was made possible to 1,00,719 pilgrims while Annaprasadam was being served to 78,616 pilgrims and 78,677 pilgrims have tonsured their heads as a part of fulfillment of their wish which is an all time record”, he said. He complimented the strong work force of TTD for their team work.

The Chairman said there is an incredible increase in every area with respect to the services offered to the pilgrims this year during summer vacation when compared to last year. “This year in the month of May 23,77,578 pilgrims had darshan of Lord while during last year it was 20,40,974 showing an increase of 3,36,604. In Kalyanakatta this May has recorded 14,02,023 tonsures which is increased by 1,47,704 tonsures. On the other hand free food as Annaprasadam was being served to 18,39,392 pilgrims in the month of May during last year while this May has recorded 22, 81,895 pilgrims with an increase of 4,42,503 pilgrims. Even the occupancy ratio of accommodation in Tirumala has shown an increase by 11% this year May when compared to last May”, he added.

“We are keen to initiate more and more pro-pilgrim methods to provide them more comfortable darshan and ensure other facilities also. As a part of this we have constituted many committees with our members to bring more transparency in the existing system in different areas which includes Purchase Committee, Engineering Works Committee, Appeals Committee, HDPP Executive Committee, SVIMS Governing counsel, BIRRD Trust and SVBC Board”, the Chairman maintained.

Adding further the board chief said, we are also looking at the venues to strengthen the Devasthanams on financial aspect to further heights by identifying donors who could donate largesse.
