TTD TO CELEBRATE YEAR LONG FETE OF “RAMANUJA SAHASRABDI”
“RAMANUJA SANCHARAM” TO BE HIGHLIGHT OF THE MEGA RELIGIOUS EVENT
Tirupati, 22 April 2016: As a befitting tribute to the great Sri Vaishanava Saint Ramanujacharya who pioneered the puja kainkaryams in Tirumala temple, TTD is gearing up to observe year long fete to mark Ramanuja Sahasrabdi which will commence from May 10 in a big way and conclude on May 1 next year.
Reviewing with the officials in his chambers in Tirupati Administrative Building, TTD EO on Friday evening said, a Ratha Yatra in the name of “Ramanuja Sanchara” should be performed in all the 106 Sri Vaishanava Divya Desams which are located across the country. “Along with the statues of Lord Venkateswara and Consorts, a statue of Ramanujacharya should also be taken in a procession to all the Divya Desams, which will be the highlight of the entire event. Apart from this Srinivasa Kalyanam of the deities will be performed at one Divya Desam in the notified 30 clusters(where three to four divya desams fall as per their proximity)”, EO added.
He instructed the officials concerned to come out with printing of new books and reprinting of books on the life history and other interesting episodes in the 120 years long span of the great saint who lived between 1017 AD to 1137AD. The “As Sri Ramanujacharya’s association with Tirumala and Tirupati was exemplary, TTD has taken initiative to organise the 1000th Birth Anniversary celebrations of the great saint acharya in a prestigious manner as a befitting tribute”, EO reiterated.
“The SVBC should relay special programmes on Ramanujacharya, sapthagiri should bring out special edition and regular lectures on the works of Ramanujacharya shoudl be organised by the Vedic Varsity while the programme will be carried out under the aegis of Alwar Divya Prabandha Project of TTD”, he added.
