BRAHMA RADHAM LEADS THE VAHANAM PREOCESSION

Tirumala, 29 September 2017: The Sodasa Vahana Sevas (16 vahanams) of Lord Malayappa Swamy during annual Srivari Brahmotsavams at Tirumala are being lead by Brahma Radham during the procession along four mada streets.

As per the legend it is believed that Lord Brahma – the creator among Trinity, first conducted Tirumala Srivari Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara in a thanks giving gesture for the later descending to the earth in Kaliyuga to protect the good from evil. “Brahma” in Sanskrit also means “Nine”. So the annual Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara are observed for nine days as Navahnika Salakatla Brahmotsavams.

BRAHMA RADHAM LEADS THE WAY FOR OTHER VAHANAMS:

Sri Venkateswara Sahmsranamastotra has references to Brahma performing the festival. To resemble this even now the a small empty wooden chariot known as Brahmaratham moves ahead of the processions during Brahmotsavams.

KAMATAM DYNASTY LEAD THE SHOW

The Brahma Radham is being governed and pulled by the descendants of “Kamatam” family as Mirasi and presently the seventh generation is operating the most important Radham. The cute, mini wooden cart marches along the four mada streets before Vahanam procession which implies that the Vahanam Procession is being lead by none other than Lord Brahma Himself.
