TIRUMALA, APRIL 6: The monthly “Dial Your EO” programme held at Annamaiah Bhavan in Tirumala on Friday where in the TTD EO Sri LV Subramanyam directly responded to the phone-in calls of various pilgrims across the country. Some excerpts:

Answering a pilgrim caller Sri Shivashankar from Kadapa, the EO said TTD has decided to conduct three-week summer camps for the sake of students who have completed inter and train them in spiritual scriptures like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Gita, Bhagavatha. “We have also decided to distribute three lakhs books of “Shataka Padyalu” designed by Pavani Seva Samithi’s Sri Sambi Reddy which will be of more useful for the students. I appeal to the teachers present across the state to come forward to extend support to TTD in teaching the values embedded in Telugu literature for the students”, he added.

Later answering the call Sri Shiva Shanker from Tirupati he said TTD has already decided to provide free break fast and meals even at Galigopuram for the sake of pedestrian pilgrims who are trekking the Alipiri footpath route. “This will come in to effect in a couple of weeks”, he said.

Responding to the call of pilgrim Subrahmanyam from Chennai, he assured that TTD will definitely look in to his suggestion of introducing laddu prasadam to the grihastas who performed Kalyanotsava seva in Srinivasa Mangapuram.

Answering to the caller Somasekhar from Hyderabad the EO said TTD will rectify the existing drawbacks on its website and make it more pilgrim friendly.

Later he thanked caller Indrani from Bapatla who appreciated the cleanliness being maintained at Tirumala inspite of heavy pilgrim crowd.

Earlier addressing pilgrims at the beginning of the programme the EO briefed the development activities taken up by TTD for the sake of the pilgrims across the country.
“TTD has performed Saraswathi Maha Yagam keeping in view the welfare of the students present across the country on March 7 in Tirupati seeking their successful outcome during this examination period.

“For the first time TTD has conducted Sri Kodandarama Swamy brahmotsavams in Tirupati in a grand manner as lakhs of devotees converged to witness the mega event. Even the Vastra Bahuman scheme and Rama Koti have also become a huge success. For the first time silk vastrams have been presented to the presiding deities by the staffs of Bhadrachalam and Ontimitta Devasthanams. We are planning to perform Sri Govinda Raja brahmotsavams on the similar lines in a grand manner in the month of May”, he added.
The EO said TTD has decided to perform 150 Srinivasa Kalyanams in a year and a cluster of celestial marriages have been planned in US which will take place between 28th of April till 2nd of June. “Even there are proposals to conduct these marriages even in Mauritius, Canada, Japan, Singapore and Srilanka’, he maintained.

TTD will construct the temples of Lord Venkateswara and Goddess Padmavathi at Kanyakumari near Vivekananda Rock Memorial at a cost of Rs.22crores. ‘The local committee has donated TTD a vast piece of land extending to the tune of 4.5acres for the same purpose’, he said.

“To speed up the coin and currency counting activity in TTD, we have decided to utilise the services of retired or in-service bank or insurance employees and also planning to give opportunity to the interesting pilgrims and we are working out on this idea”, he addded.

CVSO Sri MK Singh, CE Sri Chandra Sekhar Reddy, Health Officer Sri Bhishmaiah Naidu and other officials were also present.
