Inspection of KALYANI DAM and Pumping Station by EO TTD

Tirupati, 22, April 2010: Sri I.Y.R.Krishna Rao, Executive Officer, TTDs visited the  Kalyani Dam and its Pumping station near Sri Vari Mettu at Srinivasa Mangapuram, 15 kms from Tirupati on Thursday evening assess its structural capabilities.

He explained later that the purpose of the inspection was a routine exercise aimed at assessing the water availability and the capacity storage to meet the demand of devotees and the temple needs during the summer at Tirumala.

‘We get record crowds of devotees every day and the water supply to the guest houses, public utilities and Temple is expected to be of the order of 2 MGD ( Million Gallons per day ‘ said the  TTD Officials of the engineering department accompanying the EO during the inspection.

Sri Krishna Rao later said that there was no dearth of water in the Kalyani Dam and that there was sufficient water available for meeting the needs of devotees and the temple administration throughout the summer months.

Sri A.V.Dharma Reddy, Spl Officer, Sri V.S.B.Koteswara Rao, Chief Engineer, Sri Ramachandra Reddy, Supdt Engg, Sri Nageswara Rao, Exe Engineer, Sri Ravishankar Reddy, Divisional Engineer(Elec) and others participated during the inspections.
