KOIL ALWAR TIRUMANJANAM ON JULY 12

• Thirumanjanam ahead of Salakatla Anivari Asthanam festival on July 16.

Tirumala, 4 July 2016: Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam will be performed at the Srivari Temple on July 12 ahead of the Salakatla Anivari Asthanam festival on July 16th.

Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam (cleaning and purification of the temple premises in traditional style) is normally performed four times a year: ahead of Ugadi, Anivari Asthanam, Brahmotsavam, and Vaikunta Ekadasi.

TTD has suspended the Asta Dala Padapadmaradhana arjita seva on July 12 as the temple priests will perform the temple ‘Shuddi’ programme from morning 6 am to 11 am but other arjita sevas will be performed as scheduled.

As part of the Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam cleaning will commence from the Bangaru Vakili, other sub temples within the Srivari temple complex, all the interior walls, ceiling, all puja material will be cleaned with camphor and traditional material and the entire complex is sprinkled with liquid comprising of Namakopu, Kichili gadda, Srichurnam, Kasturi turmeric, green leaves, crystal karporam, sandal powder, kumkum and other perfume liquids. The entire program is conducted with religious fervor.

Later even the silk robes and flower decorations of the Mula Virat idol of Venkateswaraswami is also changed amidst puja and naivedyam activities as per agama. After the program attended by temple staff, devotees are allowed for darshan after 12 noon.
