LORD RIDES ON KALPAVRUKSHA
Tirumala,17 October 2015: On the fourth day of the ongoing nine day Navaratri Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara thousands of devotees were enthralled by the procession of ‘Kalpavruksha Vahanam’ in the morning hours of Saturday.
The processional deities of Lord Malayappa and his two divine consorts mounted atop the golden Kalpavruksha Vahanam was taken out in a grand procession around the mada streets encircling the holy shrine.
The Kalpavruksha Vahanam of Lord Venkateswara is adorned with three divine elements of Kalpavruksha, Kamadhenu and Chintamani which are popular in Hindu mythology for granting all boons to their devotees indicating that Lord Venkateswara was embodiment of all of them.The deity was also bedecked with very rare and precious jewels befitting the occasion.
The Kalpavruksha Vahanam of Lord Venkateswara is also a magnificent sight of greenery as it denotes the significance and importance of environment protection and forests even in the mythological lores and celestial governance of all the worlds.
It is widely believed that the Lord not only fulfills all the prayers but also bestows his choicest blessings on those who witness the celestial procession.Srimad Bhagavatham says that all those who took shelter under Kalpavruksha did not have problems of poverty. Legends say that the ‘Tree of Boons’ (Kalpavriksha) that surfaced during the churning of ‘Ksheera Sagaram’ (milky ocean) not only fulfills all the mundane desires of the people but also is known for its salutary powers in curing the ailments of the mankind.
The bright sun on the vahanam procession on the Four mada streets made a razzle- dazzle and drove the devotees into a devotional frenzy.TTD had made all arrangements – drinking water, snacks and also butter milk to devotees waiting at the galleries.The SVBC had set up massive LED screen to display the grand visual of the Lord in his bejeweled and flower decorations.
The HDPP and its wings had also organized a cultural bonanza on the Mada Streets with dancers, singers,folk artisans and also fluid running commentary of the event to educate the audience of importance of Kalpa Vruksha Vahanams.
Director General of Police Sri JV Ramudu, TTD Chairman Dr Ch Krishnamurthy, TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao, JEO Tirumala Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, TTD Trust board members Dr Hariprasad, Sri DP Anantha, Sri Krishnamurthy and others were also present. While tens of thousands of pilgrims witnessed the grandeur of Lord on Hamsa Vahana on the second day night with utmost devotion.
