SAND ART TO BE CYNOSURE DURING ANNUAL BRAHMOTSAVAMS
GARUDASTAHPITA VIMANA VENKATESWARA TO PROVIDE FEAST TO EYES
TIRUMALA, SEPTEMBER 13: The Tirumala shrine is set for the annual mega religious event of Srivari Brahmotsavams and adding more grandeur to the nine-day event is the “Garudasthapitha Vimana Venkateswara” in sand art which is going to be a cynosure to the eyes of millions of devotees.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), has embarked upon a novel idea of displaying sand sculptures at the hill shrine from last Brahmotsavams and the Bhuvarahaswamy Swany image became an instant hit last year. With this spirit, this year the TTD Garden wing Deputy Director Sri Srinivasulu has come out with yet another interesting mythological theme of Lord Garuda carrying Ananda Nilayam Vimanam in his hands, shifting it from Vaikuntham to Bhulokam.
Two girls Ms. Gouri and Ms Neelambika – skippers in fine arts from Mysore who have already proved their mettle during last year, once again showcased their expertise in the innovative art by making this attractive sand art theme this year also working three days and three nights with dedication. About seven tonnes of sieved sand is used for this craft.
According to the Deputy Director, apart from this sand art about ten othermythological themes would also be displayed at the annual expo during the festival deploying renowned floral artists from neighbouring states apart from regular workers.
