SHATAIKA HARIKATHA UTSAVAMS COMMENCES IN ANNAMACHARAYA KALAMANIRAM

TIRUPATI, NOVEMBER 13: With an aim to revive the age old traditional communication art of Harikatha Pravachanam, TTD commenced the ten-day Harikatha Utsavam in its Annamacharya Kalamandiram on Friday.

Speaking on this occasion, TTD Puranetihasa Project Special Officer Dr Samudrala Lakshmanaiah observed that Saint Narada is considered to be the pioneer of Harikatha Pravachanam. “In this week long Harikatha Utsavam, about 101 Harikatha Parayanams will be delivered by experts in this field hailing from different parts of the state as well from other Southern states till November 23. Harikatha is an amalgamation of sahitya, sangeetha and Nrityabhinayam. The programme will commence by 9am and conclude by 9pm during these days. The Shataika Harikathas includes episodes from Ramayana, Bharata, Bhagavatha, Siva Puranams”, he added.

Earlier, the programme commenced with Vighneswara Puja followed by Nada Swara Vaidyam.

On the first day Harikatha pravachanams by eminent Harikathakulu on Vinayaka Vijayam, Tyagarajaswamy Charitra, Valmiki Maharshi Charitra, Kousalya Parinayam, Vedavyasula Jananam, Bhisma Pratigna, Bhishma Vijayam, Dhrutarastra-Panduraju Jananam and Gajendra Moksham were delivered.

Mahila Varsity VC Dr Durga Bhavani, High Court Judge Smt M Suguna and large number of Harikatha lovers were also present.
