TTD LOCAL TEMPLES GET NEW SET OF “MELAM” INSTRUMENTS
Tirupati, 26 February 2014: Not only the world renowned Hill temple of Srivaru, Tiruchanoor Ammavaru but also some of the important sub-shrines of TTD will hence forth wake up to the “Morning Raga” which emanates from the traditional musical instruments that play a very important role especially in the South Indian temples.
For the first time, with the keen interest taken by Tirupati JEO Sri P Bhaskar, after almost six decades, a set of musical instruments which are usually used in temple festivals, daily sevas viz. Nadaswaram, Dolu, Tiruchoornalu, Shruti, Talam have been purchased by TTD at a cost of 5.75lakhs.
To open with, the Tirupati JEO has formally handed over two set of these traditional temple musical instruments to Sri Govinda Raja Swamy temple in Tirupati on Wednesday.
Chief Engineer Sri Chandrasekhar Reddy, Supdt Engineer Sri Sudhakar Rao, EE Sri Jagadeeswara Reddy, Deputy EOs Sri Chandra Sekhara Pillai, Sri Balaji, Sri Harindranath were also present.
